The Lenten season is upon us ... a season of prayer, fasting, and also giving. Once again, Missions will be passing out the Elijah Jars in support of local missions. The jars are available TODAY and can be returned on Easter Sunday, Please give generously - a little can mean a lot!
We are designated a "5 for 5" church within the United Church of Christ, since we annually participate in the following Missions:
Neighbors in Need
Strengthen the Church
One Great Hour of Sharing
The Christmas Fund
(Formerly known as Veterans of the Cross)
Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM)
The local community outreach programs include:
Assisting with "The Gathering Place". An activity program for senior citizens.
Almsgiving during the Lenten season. The monetary collection is donated to a local nonprofit organizations.
Provide a community meal in conjunction with Christ Episcopal Church once a year.
During the Christmas season a family is "adopted". Our congregation collects gifts to help provide a joyous Christmas for the family.
Throughout the year nonperishable food is collected for those with food insecurity.
Other local and national efforts includes:
Collecting eyeglasses for the The Lions Club, clothing (mittens, socks), personal hygiene products, and providing monetary donation at times of disasters.
